A student asked his master, “Master, do I perceive reality correctly?”
In reply the master took an apple and dropped it to the ground and asked his student “what path did the apple follow”.
“Master, the apple fell straight down” said the student.
“Yes you are correct, but consider, the apple is held in the earth’s gravity and the earth is spinning, so how does the apple move now?”
“Master, the apple must be spinning in a circle as well as falling towards the center of the earth”
“Yes, you are correct, but the earth is orbiting the sun, so how does the apple move now?”
“And” said the master, “the sun is part of a galaxy which is spinning on its axis”
“And our galaxy is moving through the Universe”
“And the Universe is expanding”
“So tell me, how does the apple move?”
The student thought for a moment and replied, “But Master, what is beyond the Universe?”
The Master smiled and said “at least now you are asking the right question”
